Spring Weather has Arrived and Many are Thinking About the Benefits of Vinyl Siding

Spring weather is upon us. Summer is right around the corner. For some, it may be hard to believe that it was snowing here in the Kansas City area just a few weeks back. Now, the temperatures are in the 80s, the kids are playing ball outdoors, and folks are mowing their lawns. Weird, huh?

There’s an old saying about the climate in the Midwest: if you don’t like the weather, just wait an hour and it’ll change. Yes, here in the Midwest where the change of the seasons offers a more pronounced change in temperatures and weather patterns, anything can happen in a few hours. The sky can turn from blue to gray, and the wind and rain (and other weather anomalies) can really whip up a storm. This is particularly true when we’re moving from spring to summer, from April to June. The folks that have lived here for any length of time know all-too well that the weather can get rough this time of year. And, unfortunately, that also means that your property can take a pretty serious beating.

Fortunately, folks who live in areas of the Midwest where the weather can be truly temperamental (if not downright nasty), put a lot of thought into how they protect their homes and their belongings. During the inclement weather season – mostly during the spring and early summer – folks tend to park their cars in the garage overnight. The reason for this is that hail can do a lot of damage to a car, even total it completely in some cases. For this same reason, most folks don’t put aluminum siding on their houses.

As you might imagine, aluminum siding has a tendency to dent when you hit it with something hard and fast (like heavy hailstones or even a thrown baseball or football). No one likes their house to get all dented up over time, so it’s no surprise that vinyl and polymer siding are incredibly popular with homeowners here in the Midwest.

Vinyl siding is reliable, beautiful, and durable – adding value to your home, curb appeal, and protection. On top of that, vinyl siding has a low-installation cost. Folks here in the Midwest like that aspect! In addition, vinyl siding is highly resistant to assaults from wind and rain. At the same time, vinyl siding won’t rot in wet weather. It won’t scratch like wood siding. Nor will it typically peel, chip, flake, or blister under the burning sun. And it sometimes gets hot here in the Midwest. Really hot.

Polymer siding is also a popular siding choice with homeowners here in the Kansas City area. Made from polyvinyl chloride (or PVC), polymer siding is incredibly strong but not brittle. For maximum protection from impact or hail, polymer siding is the right choice for the home.

Keep in mind that the Greater Kansas City Area, as with much of the Midwest, is a fantastic place to live and raise a family. Sure, we get our fair share of rain storms, thunder storms, high winds, and occasional hail falls in the spring and early summer, but these are only occasional occurrences. Most of the time, the weather is just beautiful!
