What are the Pros & Cons of Polymer Siding?

If the time has come to replace the siding on your home, Continental Siding’s seamless polymer siding is a great choice. Engineered from a durable plastic called polypropylene resin, this type of siding offers many advantages and very few drawbacks, especially when compared to other types of siding, such as metal and wood. Let’s explore the pros and cons of our polymer siding:

Pros of Polymer Siding

Our polymer siding offers many benefits to homeowners. It is:

• Durable – Crafted from one of the toughest materials in the industry, our polymer siding will never warp, crack, chip, fade, or peel. It’s also impact resistant and easily withstands hail storms without becoming damaged.
• Customizable – Because polymer can be easily molded and shaped, polymer siding can be made to mimic the appearance of almost any type of wood or stone. This allows you to achieve a natural look while enjoying the superior durability of an engineered siding product.
• Low maintenance – When polymer siding is manufactured, its color is baked directly into the material. This eliminates the need for regular upkeep and ensures your siding will look freshly painted long into the future.

Cons of Polymer Siding

Though our seamless polymer siding offers impressive benefits, there are a few drawbacks to be aware of as well. Mainly, that it is difficult to install. Because our siding is installed in long, seamless panels, professional installation is usually necessary. While this means you probably won’t be able to go the DIY route, you can rest assured our factory-certified technicians have the skills necessary to handle the installation for you, so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful new siding without lifting a finger.
