FOX 4 News Covers Continental Siding’s Handling of COVID Stay-at-Home Orders

The beginning of the COVID-19 stay-at-home order was a scary time for many people. A historic amount of people were losing jobs and were no longer able to afford to care for their families. However, at Continental Siding, we understood that this was an important time to truly invest in our employees and let them know that we care. FOX 4 News out of Kansas City, Missouri, picked up a story about Continental Siding after one of our employees submitted a letter that we sent out to our entire workforce.

Continental Siding owner Alec Cook wanted to ensure that all of our employees felt safe and taken care of which is why we chose to give a 20% bonus to our staff during the stay-at-home orders. We also took the time to craft a letter in which we wanted to assure them that everything was alright, we were thinking of them, and gave each employee an assignment to check on at least five of their coworkers after receiving the letter. This was important because those early days of COVID-19 were very isolating and Continental Siding wanted to remind their employees that they still have family and friends at work that care about them.

COVID-19 Shutdowns

After Continental Siding ensured that our employees were taken care of, we decided to branch out and ensure that our entire community was taken care of as well. We were blessed to not have been hit by the pandemic as hard as many others were so we saw it as our moral responsibility to ensure that family and neighbors were taken care of. One of the first things we did was initiate a 100 Days of Giving program to support the local community. Our commitment to looking out for others continued throughout the entire stay-at-home order and later in the year, Alec Cook, even organized a group of Community Leaders to help local businesses that were still struggling.

These unprecedented times were hard for a lot of families in the Kansas City area and throughout the world but at Continental Siding we knew the morally responsible thing to do was to continue to look out for our community as we always have.
